It All Begins With An Idea…
It all begins with an idea.
Wow - that sounds profound doesn’t it? Not sure if I’m that deep of a thinker, but here we go. This is me trying to be a blogger - wish me luck! I’m going to need it.
This all began because I had so much fabric and two little peanuts at home and I was so bored. Sewing has always been my outlet. My happy place. I’ve always loved color and fabric mixing, so I played a lot with quilts and little outfits for my girl. But I wanted to make something functional and completely useful. What to make, what to make?
I needed a cute bag to haul all the kid stuff, and I hated diaper bags. The kids were 2ish and I still had to pack diapers and sippy cups and snacks (some of those may have been my snacks, just saying). So I made bag after bag after bag and nothing was perfect. I found a style that I liked, made it, hated it, and proceeded to change all of it. The Z-bag was birthed!
The large was the first of it’s kind and was perfect, as I just dumped all the stuffs in there and away we went. Saddle up, peanuts! Also was super happy that I could throw it in the washer when it got grimy from little hands and sippy cup leaks. One of my fabulous sisters in laws (I have a couple of those and they are all fabulous, just so ya know) saw mine and wanted one, so I made one and she actually insisted on paying me for it. What!? Love you Barb! Then a friend of hers saw her using it as a gym bag and she wanted one too. A business was born. Kind of. There were a lot of boring business-y items that had to be taken care of, but don’t want to bore you. A business - yay!!
So we’re several years in and the kids aren’t peanuts anymore (sob) and the large Z-bag got a haircut, or lost a little weight. I made it smaller, people. The medium and smalls are now available. I carry a small as I’m a short girl - really short. Ahem.
The tote was born after I dreamt about it and stayed up all night figuring out in my head how to make it. Such a long night for such a simple bag. Then the cross body joined the band. That little gem is awesome! It recently let it’s hair grow out, or gained some weight (you tracking with me here?), and a larger cross body is now available.
Long story longer, I love what I do. I simply get so much joy out of putting random fabrics together to create a wearable piece of art.
I’m thrilled that you are joining me on this journey and reading about my bags and colors and getting to know me and my family. Oh yeah - you’ll get to hear all about the guy and the non-peanuts and the two crazy dogs and the whirlwind that is my life.
Welcome aboard. Please keep your hands and feet inside the vehicle at all times and don’t forget to laugh - it’s going to be a fun ride!
